On September 25th, the Nebraska Humane Society will host its annual Walk for the Animals. It is a “tail-waggin” good time featuring a parade of NHS “alumni,” vendors, a silent auction and a parade of dogs available for adoption. It is a celebration of the animals in our lives and is the shelter’s largest fundraising event. Each year nearly 30,000 animals come to the Nebraska Humane Society. And it is because of our generous community that the Nebraska Humane Society is able to save so many lives.
Jack, the handsome poodle pictured below, was rescued by the NE Humane Society on September 22nd of 2010. He arrived at the shelter as a matted mess of hair, underweight and in desperate need of TLC. We adopted him on October 13th and helped him along his road to recovery. He suffered from bronchitis, an enlarged heart and a persistent case of tracheitis caused by a collapsed trachea. After two months of many vet visits, Jack pulled through and he is now a very healthy and happy boy. Some would say we saved him, but in all reality he has been a gift to our lives.
There are many deserving animals out there just like Jack, waiting for a second chance at life!
My fundraising goal is $400. Please visit the following link and support the NHS as generously as you can!
